The Different Styles Of Music

When you start to prepare for your performances, one of the biggest aspects of your drag will be your music. When it comes to music, there will always be a large selection of songs to choose from, and those songs, come from different styles and genres. But what exactly are the biggest genres and styles of music out there? Lets take a look!

  • Comedic (i.e TV Jingles)
  • Country
  • Dance
  • Easy Listening (i.e Swing)
  • Electronic
  • Hip Hop
  • Rap
  • Holiday (i.e Christmas)

This is just the short list of the genres that performers can choose from. Each genre can branch off into subgenres, such as Alternative Rock, and each can have up to a million songs behind it. Some of the most popular genres that performers  do on stage branch off of the Top 40 or the Billboard Top 100.

Pro Tip – When choosing your music, always think about the audience that you will be performing in front and the venue that you will be in.
